The ZF41: From ZF40 to the K98k Marksman’s Sight
The Zielfernrohr 41 was not Germany’s precision sniper optic. It was a 1.5× long-eye-relief sight fitted over the K98k rear-sight base so a squad marksman could keep a normal cheek weld. It came out of leftover G41 work, then changed in the tube, the grease, the mount rollers and the factories that built the rifles.

Ownership of the Mauser Factory in Oberndorf: A Complete History
The Mauser name is often treated as one company. In Oberndorf am Neckar it was not. The site began as a royal Württemberg arsenal and passed through the Mauser brothers, a Stuttgart bank, Loewe, DWM, the Quandt group, French occupation, Diehl and Rheinmetall. Heckler & Koch rose from the same town — a new firm, not the legal heir.

The Evolution of the German RG34 Cleaning Kit
The Reinigungsgerät 34 was the Wehrmacht’s standard small-arms cleaning kit from 1934 to 1945. The same tin served the K98k, Gewehr 98, machine guns and pistols. What changed was metal, paint, latches, oilers and markings — all driven by cost and shortages.
