G40k (shortened late-war Mauser)

1945 · Late war · 7.92×57 mm

Collector notes

The G40k sits at the end of the wartime attempt to shorten and simplify the K98k. Surviving examples are scarce and heavily faked by cutting K98k barrels. A genuine short rifle must be measured: barrel length, sight radius, and band positions have to match published G40k / Kurz figures, not a sawn K98k. Treat every ‘G40k’ with scepticism until the barrel is original, the front sight is in the correct place, and the markings are consistent. This gallery example is a study placeholder for that scarce type.
