Collector notes

swp is the 1944–45 code for Waffenwerke Brünn (the former Zbrojovka Brno works). Earlier Brünn K98k production used the dot code. Late-war swp rifles show phosphate or thin blue, laminate stocks, and simplified parts. They are legitimate K98k rifles, not ‘last ditch’ curios unless specific 1945 features are present. Collectors should not sand laminate or polish phosphate to make the rifle look like 1938 Oberndorf.
