.22 training rifles: why they matter

German .22 training rifles — DSM 34, later KKW — exist so that a man could learn bolt, sight, and sling without 7.92×57. They follow military lines on purpose. A DSM is the earlier club pattern; a KKW is closer to the K98k in bands, sight, and handling. Neither is a converted service rifle. Neither is a toy. Collectors who ignore trainers miss the teaching chain that sits beside every K98k.

Photograph maker, calibre marking, and whether the furniture is original to the trainer. A KKW restocked as a sporting .22 is a different object. Do not mix them in the same catalogue line without a note.
